Chai Cancer Care was delighted that so many people from across the Manchester community turned up on Monday 16th July to hear a lecture on the “Latest Developments in Ovarian and Breast Cancer”.

The expert lecture took place at Heathlands Village and was one of a number of lectures and health related talks that Chai are planning to run across North and South Manchester.

Chai’s Chairman Louise Hager welcomed the guest speakers and publicly thanked Client Services Manager Johanne Harrison and the dedicated team of counsellors and complementary therapists who are currently supporting 211 cancer patents and their families in the Manchester area. The services Chai provides include individual and couples counselling, family support and direct work with children. Chai also offer a range of complementary therapy services, aromatherapy, massage, hot stone massage, reflexology, reiki and physiotherapy. Due to requests from the community, Chai is also hoping to offer a gentle exercise class for clients.

The audience heard from Professor Gordon Jason Medical Oncologist and researcher at the Christies Hospital and Miss Saad, consultant Breast Surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Trust.

The lectures were informative and interactive giving the audience an opportunity to hear about the changes and developments in the treatment of Ovarian and Breast Cancer, through surgery and pharmaceutical drugs. It also gave the speakers an opportunity to dispel some of the myths associated with these cancers.

A Chai client who attended the lecture commented “the guest speakers were excellent and the information was very useful, it also opened the door for other people to come along and hear about the wonderful work Chai do”.
