Do I have to be a cancer patient?

No. Chai’s services are available to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis whether you be the patient, a family member or friend.

Are your services confidential?

Chai adheres to stringent policies of confidentiality and we pride ourselves on our professionalism. All basic contact information on clients is retained within confidential systems and access is restricted. Any clients who have concerns about confidentiality can discuss these privately.

Does Chai provide transport?

At Chai we are able to help clients get to their appointments, both at Chai or at the hospital. If a client is unable to make their own way, we will endeavour to provide a volunteer driver to take them to their appointment.

Do you have disabled access?

In keeping with present legislation the Chai building has disability access, with a ramp to the front door and lift access to all floors in the building and disabled toilets.

Does a doctor have to refer me to Chai?

No. You can call us and refer yourself.

Can I phone for my friend?

You can request information from us which you can share with your friend, but your friend must phone us themselves if they want to use our services.

Can you phone my friend?

We are unable to contact anyone without them having made contact with us first. We feel it is important that people want to come to Chai and have an understanding of the benefits our services can offer.

Is there on-site parking?

There is on-site parking for our clients, with spaces reserved near the front door for those people who are unable to walk very far.

What groups does Chai run?

At the Chai Centre in Hendon we run a selection of groups including:
Exercise Groups
Support Groups
a Social Group and an Art Class.

Are Chai lectures open to the public?

Absolutely – we welcome anyone to our lectures. We simply require that spaces are reserved in advance so we can provide sufficient seating.

Can I visit a Chai Site?

We welcome all visitors to our Chai sites. Please phone us to arrange a visit at a convenient time for you. If you wish to visit Hendon you can do so during our opening hours. For other Chai sites please call prior to visiting so we can ensure you receive a tour and information on our services.
