Chai’s North-West Service receives a welcome boost

Chai Cancer Care received a substantial donation which will help ensure that they can continue to meet the relentless demand for their specialised cancer support services and care in the North-West.

Mr Simon (Sim) Rubin, a well-known philanthropist from Liverpool and first cousin of Chai Co-Founder, Frances Winegarten z’l, has chosen to honour the memory of his dear parents, Samuel and Lottie Rubin z’l with this significant generosity.

Sim said: “We were so shocked when 38 years ago the family heard that Frances had been diagnosed with cancer and were so relieved that after a very difficult two and a half years of treatment, she recovered T.G. It is of tremendous credit to her that she used her considerable talents and experience of what it means to live with cancer to establish Chai, which has helped so many people over the years. It was therefore very meaningful to me that this donation should be dedicated to my dear parents and will enable Chai continue to meet the need, particularly in my home town of Liverpool.

Chai’s Chairman, Louise Hager said: “The family connection is very special and we are so encouraged and honoured by Sim’s wonderful support. This donation will be of immediate and tangible benefit to so many people.”
