Chai Art Workshop Calendar 2009

To celebrate Chanukah this year and to help raise much needed funds for Chai Cancer Care’s vital services their Art Workshop have created a beautiful and inspirational calendar showcasing their work.

Chai runs a weekly Art Workshop for its clients.  It is extremely popular with some very talented artists on board.  People of all different artistic levels attend and go on to develop incredible skills.  We are pleased to say that the calendar is selling out fast, with two of the paintings being commissioned as a result.

Linda Sharpe, a volunteer who runs the workshop commented:
“I am so delighted to see our clients’ amazing talent in print and proving so popular.  We all gain so much from this workshop and are delighted to be able to raise funds for Chai from our work.  We couldn’t have done this without the generosity of Tony Quill Photography & Mike Plosker of Printers Inc. & Design Ltd.”.

To purchase a calendar please call on 020 8202 2211.

Chai Cancer Cares Intelligent Giving Rate Rises to 66%

Chai Cancer Care's annual report for 2007-08 was praised in the most recent review by Intelligent Giving, the online independent charity advisory website. Intelligent Giving said that The annual report for 2007-08 is a vast improvement on the previous year's, giving a clear explanation of the charity's achievements and plans.

Chai Chief Executive Elaine Kerr explained that
"improving the quality of information about the charity available to the wider public is a priority as the need for services grows. Chai relies entirely on charitable donations to be able to provide services. Greater transparency and accountability are important so that donors and clients alike are informed of what Chai is doing and how donations are being used to benefit those affected by cancer."

Chai's new rating of 66% (up from 36% previously) compares favourably with other Jewish charities such as Jewish Care (60%), UJIA (59%) Manchester Fed (63%).
