Chai Cancer Care is Mayoral Choice

Visiting Chai's Centre in Hendon, The Mayor was impressed by the extensive range of services offered to cancer patients and their families.  He commented on the beautiful facilities and the calm and positive atmosphere.

Thanking the Mayor for choosing Chai Chief Executive, Elaine Kerr, explained:

"Over the past year the use of our services has more than doubled.  Many of our clients come to the Centre, whilst others make use of our home support service.  Keeping pace with the demand for our existing services and introducing new ones to meet the ever changing needs of our clients is costly.  The receipt of Mayoral charity funds will make a great difference to our clients.  Just as importantly, it will raise our profile in Barnet ensuring that all who need us know we are there.  Our aim is to make sure that no one has to face the impact of cancer in their lives alone.  We are very grateful that the Mayor has chosen us and Barnet Carers as his charities.  It's a great pairing."

The Mayor of Barnet commented:

"I have known of the excellent work of Chai ever since it was launched.  I will always remember the comments of a friend whose wife was dying.  He said that he wished they had discovered Chai earlier.  I hope that I will succeed in raising money for Chai and also Chai's profile."
