The 4 Sons Purim Spiel raised over £8,000 for Chai Cancer Care and Emunah

Talented a capella group, The 4 Sons, consisting of George Rosenfeld (17), Asher Levy (18), Rafi Levy (16), Dov Forman (13), Gideon Caplan (18) and Shimon Hurst (9), chose to celebrate Purim by spieling their way around North London in aid of two charities close to their hearts, Chai Cancer Care and Emunah.

The group, who performed a number of songs including ‘Purim Thrills’, written by themselves especially for Purim, as well as their own medley of ‘Adon Olam’, raised an incredible £8,000 which will be split between their chosen charities.

They began their epic spiel at South Hampstead Shul and The Village Shul in Hampstead on Motzei Shabbat and carried on at various Seudot, visiting 28 homes across Golders Green and Hendon on Sunday evening. In addition, the boys were runners up in 2 competitions, the ‘Spiel Factor’ and ‘The Woodlands Close Competition’, winning prizes totalling to £1,250.

Following the ‘spiel’, founder and director of The 4 Sons, George said: “I hope that we will be able to keep fulfilling our motto of ‘making a difference through music’ for a long time to come.  We are constantly motivated by the excellent work of Chai Cancer Care and Emunah, as well as WaterAid – the third charity we support during the rest of the year, but we couldn’t have done any of it without the generosity of the community or the commitment of all the boys who have been in The 4 Sons as well as their families. It’s been an incredible journey over the past 4 years and to have raised so much money is a huge privilege.”

Founding member, Asher said: “My grandpa, who passed away, had cancer during the last year of his life and went to the Chai Centre in Hendon for physiotherapy and other support. This charity is one that is personally very close to my family as they were really good at helping him cope.  It's amazing to have raised such a significant amount of money for charity doing something I enjoy.”
