Up, up and away! Forever Chai’s ‘A Walk in the Park’ raises £2,000 for Chai

Hundreds of purple balloons were released into the sky on Sunday 14th May, as more than 250 people attended ‘A Walk in the Park’ at St Mary’s Park, Prestwich.

The event, hosted ‘Forever Chai’ Committee members; Jilly Berens, Gemma Berger, Jakki Friedman, Rachel Harris, Sophie Warner, Tash Winburn, included a 2K fun walk and balloon release as part of Chai’s ‘A Week for Chai’ campaign’.

The week long initiative will run until the 21st of May and is asking people to raise much needed awareness and funds for Chai in the North West, whether it be a BBQ, Football tournament, Bake Sale, Coffee morning ‘Whatever you’re doing…Do it for Chai’. Every day people are living with the impact of a cancer diagnosis and every day Chai is making a difference.

Following the event, Forever Chai Committee Chairman, Jilly Berens, said: “The feedback we had from everybody taking part was incredible. All the children loved releasing the Chai balloons into the sky as well as the fab characters and policemen. We raised awareness of Chai’s vital services as well as £2000 towards our new children’s play therapy room at Heathlands.”
