It’s a Smash Hit for Chai

Last week Chai Cancer Care held its second table tennis tournament in memory of Patricia Davidson, at Norrice Lea Shul.  Attended by over 100 people, with 51 participating in the tournament it was an exciting and fun evening all round.

The participants raised over £10,000, as well as a super set of auction prizes making  a further £3,000 which will ensure that Chai Cancer Care can continue to provide individual, family and couple counselling for people affected by cancer.  The counselling will be taking place in the new Patricia Davidson Counselling Room, part of the new Wing extension currently being built at the Chai Centre in Hendon.  The 2007 Table Tennis Tournament raised the funds to build this part of the new Wing.

The singles tournament winner, Adam Black, is a two-time Maccabiah medal winner and currently a member of the British League team Ellenborough.  His opponent, Boris Ben Ari, is the ex-Finnish Table Tennis Champion.  Needless to say it was a tense final.  The Doubles tournament was won by David Davidson & Richard Poston who beat Steven & Ashley Davidson.
