Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by increasing the body’s release of natural painkillers – endorphins and serotonin. This modifies the way pain signals are received.  Modern research shows that acupuncture may affect most of the body’s systems – the nervous system, muscle tone, hormone outputs, circulation, antibody production and allergic responses, as well as the respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems. During acupuncture needles are inserted and manipulated into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes. Acupuncture is used to treat the side-effects of cancer treatments such as nausea, tiredness and lack of energy. It may also help reduce hot flushes caused by cancer treatment, and help reduce stress and anxiety.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a gentle form of massage that uses natural plant essential oils to help promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Different oils are used to effect relaxation, stress reduction or system control.
