Volunteering Services

Chai is fortunate to have a wonderful team of trained volunteers who help to improve the lives of our clients.  They are able to provide practical support and companionship, and can help people to regain confidence, reduce anxiety and the feeling of isolation.

Volunteers take clients to hospital or to visit their GP, provide lifts to and from our sites for appointments and activities, take them on errands or out shopping, or even shop on their behalf.

Volunteers are available to speak to clients who ring our helpline and keep in contact on a regular basis.

All our volunteers have had experience of cancer and are trained and supervised to enable them to prove invaluable support to our clients.

When might you need our volunteer services?

  • When you are having medical treatment and feeling too unwell to go out, but would like some companionship
  • When you are feeling lonely and isolated due to your illness
  • When you are housebound
  • When you need someone to help you with shopping
  • When you need a lift to the hospital or GP
  • When you need lifts from home to Chai sites
