Itinerary: 

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi.

You will be met and picked up by the ground crew from the airport before being transferred to your hotel in Moshi for the night.

 

Day 2: Moshi to Rongai gate to Simba Camp

Elevation: 1,387 m to 1,950 m to 2,750 m        Distance: 9 km        Hiking Time: 4 hours

Your trip of a lifetime starts by hiking and winding through different vegetation before entering into montane forest. A gentle but consistent climb through forestation then follows. As you arrive at Simba Camp, you will have phenomenal views over the stunning Kenyan plains.

 

Day 3: Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Elevation: 2,750 m to 3,600 m        Distance: 17 km        Hiking Time: 7 hours

Today begins with a steady ascent to the second cave where you will stop for lunch. We will leave the direct trail and trek out across moorlands along a path toward Mawenzi side peak to Kikelewa Camp. At the Kikelewa Camp you will settle overnight for dinner and camping.

 

Day 4: Kikelewa camp to Mawenzi Turn Hut.

Elevation: 3,600m to 4,330m        Distance: 7km        Hiking Time: 4 hours

After a hearty breakfast you will face a steep climb up grassy slopes before enjoying superb immersive panoramic views and wilderness. After leaving the grasslands behind, you will arrive at the Mawenzi Tarn Camp - situated directly beneath the impressive spires of Mawenzi Peak. After this hike, you will reach Mawenzi Turn Hut Camp where you will rest, have dinner and camp overnight.

 

Day 5: Acclimatization day.

Shabbat is spent with plenty of time to acclimatize and take in your breath-taking views.

 

Day 6: Mawenzi Turn Hut to Kibo Huts Camp

Elevation: 4,330 m to 4,695 m        Distance: 8km        Hiking Time: 5 hours

An early start today! You will cross steadily between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks to Kibo Huts at the bottom of Kibo’s crater wall. Here you will spend the remainder of the day preparing for tomorrow’s summit climb.

 

Day 7: Summit Day! Kibo Huts camp to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Huts camp

Elevation: 4,695 m to 5,895 m to 3,690 m        Distance: 4 km up, 14 km down        Hiking Time: 10-15 hours

We start before dawn which gives us the best chance to reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Set off to the peak and reach Gilman’s Point at 5,861 m at around 5am. At this point, you will have unrestricted views of the crater and its icecaps. Continue hiking along the Kibo crater rim to Kilimanjaro’s true summit - Uhuru Peak. Spend time at the summit taking well-earned photos and reflecting on your achievement before beginning your descend. Night spent at the Horombo camp. 

 

Day 8: Horombo Huts camp to Marangu Gate to Moshi

Elevation: 3,690 m to 1,830 m to 1,387 m        Distance: 18 km        Hiking Time: 5-7 hours

After a long sleep, you will have breakfast, pack up and start descending through the moorland to Mandara Huts. After lunch you will precede with your triumphant return down through lush forest to Marangu park gate. Here a vehicle will take you to back to the hotel where it is definitely time for celebrations and a well-deserved drink!

 

Day 9: Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport

You will be met and driven back to Kilimanjaro International Airport before your onward journey home.
