Golfers club together raising over £40,000 for Chai Cancer Care


A hundred golfers enjoyed a day out at the 14th annual Club 18 Chai Golf Tournament at Dyrham Park Country Club on Wednesday the 5th of June. The event, hosted by the Club 18 Golf Committee, Joint Chairmen, Ronnie Gottlieb OBE and Michael Lubliner and their committee, Paul Balcombe, Trevor Berkowitz, Jack Galaun, Graham Wainer and David Krok, raised over £40,000 for Chai Cancer Care.

A shotgun start kicked off the round of golf before the golfers took on the testing 6,428 yard course.

Following which, there was a cocktail party and dinner. During the dinner the guests were then shown the appeal film entitled ‘The Wonder of Chai’, featuring a whirlwind of emotions and feelings, of families and relationships. The film can be viewed here:

Michael Lubliner, Co-Chairman of the Club 18 Golf Committee presented awards to the winning team.

The women’s winning team comprised of, Rosamund Balcomb, Angela Stern, Phillipa Wainer and Sue Strang. They were closely followed by Denise Hoffman, Sue Rubin, Gill Julius, Sandra Joseph.

The Men and Mixed winning team comprised of Stuart Coburn, David Walton, Nigel Freedman, Gail Walton. They were closely followed by Trevor Berkovitz, Michael Stein, Sean Melnick, Brian Kobrin. The Nearest to the Pin prize went to Ralph Kossman.

The main raffle prize was the latest generation Kia Picanto, amongst other prizes generously donated by Osprey.

Following the event, Michael Lubliner and Ronnie Gottlieb, said: “The 14th Annual Chai Golf Day was held at Dyrham Park. Despite the blowy conditions the golf was of a very high standard with the winning team getting 96 pts. The atmosphere throughout the day was tremendous with a full field of participants playing golf and attending the dinner in the evening. A big thank you to our Committee and all those who helped to make it such a great success.”
